Monday 7th January 2008 7pm until midnight.
This event, the first of 2008, was scheduled to be fished at Brighton Marina. Unforetunately the weather was awful, with westerly winds gusting up to 30mph, the eastern breakwater was closed for obvious safety reasons. We moved to Newhaven, with 24 anglers fishing the West Beach Car Park, the river, the small arm and Seaford beach.
Fishing was difficult and scratchy, lots of undersized fish were present the catches being rockling, channel whiting and pouting.
Sixteen of the 24 anglers weighed in a total of 52 sizeable fish. The winners were:-
1st Mark Trott 2lb 2.25ozs
2nd Ronnie Burnett 1lb 13.50ozs
3rd Jamie Sharp 1lb 11 ozs
Mark also won the heaviest roundfish prize with a 1lb 1oz channel whiting.

Monday 4th February 2008 6pm until midnight.
Scheduled to be fished at Shoreham Beach, because of the vast quantities of wood from the sunken ship scattered all along the Sussex coast, and the extreme weather forecast, the Tossa's once again found themselves fishing in the relative shelter of Newhaven Harbour. As the competition progressed the south westerly wind stiffened and moved southerly so by two thirds of the way through we had to endure a full gale of wind and rain in our faces.
Despite being plagued by undersized fish 26 anglers weighed in 65 sizable fish between them, bags consisting of flounders, rockling, channel whiting and pouting.
The winners were:-
1st Jamie Sharp 1lb 13.25ozs
2nd Andy Brand 1lb 12 ozs
3rd Rod Punter 1lb 5.5 ozs
Best flattie went to Jamie Sharp with a 11.5ozs flounder, and the best roundfish was a 6.75ozs rockling caught by junior member Oliver Blackmore.

Monday 7th April 2008 10am until 4pm
Thirteen anglers took part during a very cold day on Brighton Beach, the icy north westerly wind made a difficult day less enjoyable especially as only a dozen sizeable Rockling were bought to the scales. Typical for the time of year, plenty of undersized fish about although nothing to get too excited over.
1st Rod Punter 9.5ozs
2nd Nick Hale 8.5ozs
3rd Pete Ellis Martin 8 ozs
The roundfish pool was shared by Rod and Pete who caught a humble 4.25ozs Rockling. The flatfish pool carries over to the next meeting at Brighton Marina.
A special mention for our youngest member, 9 years old Oliver Blackmore, who half way through the six hour match, while suffering from the bitter cold, was offered the chance to sit it out in a warm car with a bag of chips, Oliver opted to stay on the beach and stick it out. Good boy!

2nd Rod Punter 1lb 14.25ozs

Monday 9th June 2008 Pagham 1pm until 7pm
Fourteen anglers participated in our annual Awayday event, fished this year at Pagham. Unforetunately, despite being a beautiful hot sunny summer day, the event was spoiled by the huge amount of seaweed present in the water. Despite the difficulty 2 anglers weighed in and several undersized Bass and Black Bream were returned alive.
1st Ross Brand 1lb 6ozs
2nd Tracy Newington 7.25ozs
Ross won the roundfish pool with his 1lb 6ozs Bass, and once again the flattie pool carries over.
